 Southwestern Child Development Commission, Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Lead Teacher to work in Buncombe, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Swain, Jackson and Haywood Counties.  Applicants must have a BA or BS degree and a valid license to teach Birth-Kindergarten or willingness to get an add-on.  Preference will be given to applicants who have experience working in a qualified early childhood educational setting with 0-5 year old children, or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Applicants must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain an approved medical statement and meet all state child care licensing requirements.  Must have a car available for work.  Full benefits package is available.

Southwestern Child Development is accepting applications for the position (1) of Nurse Supervisor for our Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Project.  This position will supervise Nurse Home Visitors in Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties in North Carolina.  The NFP Project is an evidenced-based home visitation program for first time parents to help improve pregnancy outcomes, child health and development and self-sufficiency.   This position will assure that the NFP program is implemented in accordance with established guidelines and contract requirements and will provide support and oversight of the four Nurse Home Visitors.  A Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred.  Minimum qualifications require at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and relevant licensing in good standing.  Desired experience includes:  work in public/community health, home visitation, provision of maternal/child health services, program management, one-on-one supervision and work with diverse populations.  All applicants must have a valid NC Driver’s license and an insured automobile available for work.  Competitive wages and the agency’s full benefits package are available.  This is a grant –funded position.

Southwestern Child Development is accepting applications for the position (4) of Nurse Home Visitor for our Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) Project. These positions will serve Haywood, Jackson, Macon and Swain Counties in North Carolina. The NFP Project is an evidenced-based home visitation program for first time parents to help improve pregnancy outcomes, child health and development and self-sufficiency. A desire to do home visitation, one-on-one intervention and working toward measurable goals are a must. A Nurse Home Visitor is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing services to women and their families eligible for the NFP project including home visiting, providing education, support and referral resources in assisting women and their families in attaining their targeted goals, formulating nursing diagnosis based on nursing assessment and client goals, and working on teams. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, current RN license in good standing and current CPR are required. Two years recent experience in maternal/child health, public health, or mental/behavioral nursing are preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required as well as basic computer skills. All applicants must have a valid NC Driver’s license and an insured automobile available for work. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends and must be able to travel in the area and to out of state education sessions.
