Get to Know Me....

Daniel Bates is the new North Carolina Statewide Family Child Care Project Manager.  He is a product of family child care in NC. His professional career in early childhood education began in the late 1990s, and geographically expanded from the foothills to southeastern NC.  He has experience in licensed child care as a lead teacher, assistant director, director, and central office director with after school/early education programs for a major school system.  He has worked with NC CCR&R for over 12 years as the School Age & Early Education Specialist with Region 4 and taught early childhood courses for colleges and universities.

 

While working in early childhood education, he earned his associate degree from Surry Community College, undergraduate in Early Childhood Education at the University of Mt. Olive, and has a M.Ed. in Leadership, Policy, and Advocacy in Early Childhood with a Certification in College Teaching & Learning from UNC Wilmington. He also serves on advisory committees for colleges and boards, including NCAEYC.

 

He enjoys learning about cultures, preferably through travel, hands-on experiences, and food around NC and other parts of the world, including Belize.
